It’s here!
nutritious food, natural living, faith in Him
Summer is here, and fresh and delicious produce are in abundance! It’s the time of year when I start buying huge amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables and preserve them for eating throughout the rest of the year. My freezer, dehydrator, and canning equipment are working overtime. Today I received 15 pounds of cosmetically challenged (they look perfect to me!) peaches. I’ll order more each week until they are out of season again. Soon I’ll be getting 50 pounds or {Read More}
Remember this post from last year with my recipe from concentrated laundry soap? Well, I’ve been using it with success up until yesterday when my most recent batch ran out. It was late at night and I was tired and not at all interested in whipping up a new batch in order to start another load of laundry. So, I decided to reformulate my recipe. And by reformulate what I really mean is skip the part of the original recipe {Read More}

Have you ever made your own vanilla extract? It is really, really easy and requires only two ingredients. You’ll spend a bit more money up front to make it, but it ends up being a lot less expensive in the long run. If you’re like me and bake a lot this is something you’ll definitely want to make. I also like to make my own extracts because (like everything else I make from scratch) it is important to me to {Read More}

Here’s a quick festive little weekend recipe for you! Quinoa Horchata 1 2/3 cups cooked quinoa 3 cups filtered water 1 can coconut milk 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 rounded teaspoon ground cinnamon honey or organic granulated sugar, to taste (I used about 1/4 cup) Pour everything into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Chill, then serve over ice. Enjoy! Have a happy Cinco de Mayo!
If you “like” me on Facebook, you know how much I adore our CSA. I mean, what’s not to like? Every Wednesday when I come back home from running carpool and errands, I’m greeted by a giant box of fresh produce + whatever lovely add-ons I’ve chosen for the week. Black beans? Check. Grass-fed beef? Check. 25 pounds of oranges? Don’t mind if I do. I think it’s pretty much immoral to live in SoCal and not take advantage of {Read More}
It’s been a loooooong time since any of my kids have eaten chicken tenders. It’s virtually impossible to find pre-made chicken tenders that have normal ingredients I’d actually feed my kids, let alone a gluten-free version. It’s been so long, in fact, that I had completely forgotten chicken tenders are a thing. That is, until a few days ago when my 3 year-old saw a classmate eating some at school and came home and asked for some. He meant it {Read More}
